Brazilian Rosewood back & sides to build an OM or smaller steel string or classical guitar
Individually photographed - The set in the photo is the set you will receive
BACK - 2 x Back halves 560mm long 200mm tapering to 170mm wide x 3.2mm thickness sanded.
The back is an even chocolate-brown colour with faint black grain lines. The back is mostly flat-sawn but is over 25 years old and very stable. There is a closed knots in each side of the lower bout, these are stable and quite attractive. There is another knot outside the perimeter of the guitar. This will make a beautiful guitar back for an acoustic or classical guitar.
SIDES - 2 x Sides 870mm long x 103mm wide x 2.8mm thickness sanded.
The sides match the back well in colour and have the same chocolate brown with faint black lines. The sides are more quartersawn and straight-grained, they are over 25 years old and very stable. There are three tiny wormholes in each side and some light discolouration around them. This becomes less apparent with some finish on the timber. The holes are around 1mm diameter and can be easily filled so they are barely visible. These will make excellent sides for an acoustic or classical guitar.
Brazilian Rosewood is the worlds most famous tonewood. It earned its reputation from it’s beauty, amazing acoustic properties and its use on many of the world’s greatest acoustic and classical guitars.
Trees of this amazing timber are no longer being harvested because logging has reduced the numbers to the point where it is endangered. There is now an extremely limited amount of the timber left worldwide and no chance of more supply.
We have just a few sets of Brazilian Rosewood available for sale and once they are sold we will not be listing any more.
