Australian Mulga bridge blank for steel string guitars
Minimum Dimensions - 39mm x 10mm x 165mm (1 9/16" x 3/8" x 6 1/2")
MULGA (Acacia Aneura)
These timbers are Australian desert hardwoods, due to the arid conditions they grow in they have very little moisture content even when first milled, making a very stable material after normal air-drying.
Mulga has a colour similar to dark koa or blackwood while Bouree and Gidgee are a rich brown. These timbers are extremely hard with a close tight grain and polish easily to a semi gloss type sheen using fine sand papers and steel wool.
They make an excellent Australian alternative for fretboards, bridges and tailpieces where Ebony has traditionally been used.
